Please see below requirements to see if you are eligible to do Adjustment of Status (AOS) with United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS)
- Be selected for further processing,
- Currently have a valid Status to reside in U.S,
- Enter the U.S legally and inspected at port of entry
- Maintain current legal Status
- Not violate the current status since admission

BASIC INFORMATION
If you are selected, you will see a letter like this when you check the selection status. This is your 1st notification letter (1nl). In the 1nl you can find your case number (learn more). (Even if you have selected for the further processing, it does not guarantee that you will get a green card)
You have wait until your case number become “current” before you submit your adjustment of status application. You can check the case numbers progress by following visa bulletin (how to read visa bulletin).
Once your case number becomes current you can submit your adjustment of status application with all supporting documents
Below is the usual timeline of the AOS process.
Do not start the following procedures immediately if you have a high case number because it will reflect your immigration intentions and might be difficult to obtain nonimmigrant visa in future (read this to understand more)
